Rafique, Rao guide Avis to thumping victory

ABU DHABI — Mohammed Rafique and Satyam Rao hit unbeaten half centuries to steer Avis to a thumping 10-wicket win over UAE Xchange in the weekend’s Abu Dhabi Duty Free division-two tournament here at the Zayed Cricket Complex.

Rafique (65 not out) hit half-a-dozen fours and a six in his 65 not out and Rao (54 not out) struck four fours and posted an unbeaten 132-run opening wicket partnership in 15.5 overs after their team had bowled out UAE Xchange to 131 all out in 22.1 overs.

Al Mehairi went on a scoring spree against the United Bank Limited. They made 270 for six in the allotted 25 overs restricted the bankers to 160 for seven to romp home by 110 runs.

Rahman Gul led the charge with a blistering 22-ball 66. His knock contained six sixes and four fours. Ali Asad and Shoukat Ali joined the run feast, both scoring half centuries studded with half-a-dozen sixes apiece. Nasir Siddiqui propped up the UBL inning with a defiant 62 not out with four fours and two sixes.
