27 November 2007
EXPERIENCE the pleasure of walking through 14,000 square metres of fragrant and luscious floral and herbal gardens when the Kingdom's biggest lifestyle and garden show, the Riffa Views Bahrain International Garden Show (RVBIGS), transforms the Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre (BIEC) into an indoor paradise for garden and horticulture enthusiasts for three days in spring commencing February 22.

Scented Gardens, the theme for RVBIGS 2008, will feature a wide variety of aromatic plants that are grown in climates similar to Bahrain as well as spectacular landscapes by notable designers from the industry.

Manufacturers and suppliers of floriculture and garden equipment as well as research and development organisations engaged in agriculture, aquaculture, horticulture and garden technologies from throughout the Gulf, the Middle East and other parts of the world will also be represented at the show.

This prestigious annual event will be held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, and will be open to the public and trade visitors.

Over the years, RVBIGS has evolved into a national hallmark event with Shaikha Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and President of the Supreme Council for Women, as one of its staunchest supporters since it was first launched as Bahrain Garden Fair 42 years ago.

Bahrain's finest and most anticipated garden and horticultural event will not be complete without floral competitions to showcase the creative talents of the industry and networking opportunities with experts who can offer extensive advice and solutions.

It is the ideal forum, or platform, for technological exchange, meeting and building new contacts, and closing sales with buyers and sellers from all over the world.

ILO's support  support

Bahrain is working hard to promote social security and human development policies within the framework of the labour market reform scheme, labour minister Dr. Majeed Al Alawi affirmed.

Speaking at a meeting with a delegation from the international labour organisation (ILO) hosted by the ministry to set the National Programme for Decent Work, the minister said he looked forward to boosting cooperation with the organisation in order to benefit from its experience to back the ministry's programmes and schemes.

Al Alawi requested the cooperation of the ILO in supporting a number of Ministry's programmes, including labour legislations, freedoms provided for unions, finding alternatives for the sponsor system, occupational guidance, promotion of training programmes and improvement of professional standards and criteria system.

Countdown begins

With just a few days before the opening of the Fire Department Instructors Conference and Exhibition (FDIC Bahrain), final preparations are being made to receive the fire, health and safety professionals of the Middle East, at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre.

FDIC Bahrain is the leading exhibition and conference for fire, health & safety professionals and the only dedicated event for the fire industry in the Gulf region and is expected to be well attended by those wanting to share experiences, learn new techniques and see new technologies and equipment in one place at one time.

The FDIC Bahrain exhibition and conference will commence on December 11 at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre and continue for 3 days.

The exhibition will be offering 100 companies exhibiting their products and services for today's fire, health and safety professionals for the construction, oil & gas, petrochemical, industrial, marine and aviation industries as well as Civil Defence. The exhibition is an excellent showcase for the latest in equipment.
