These new concepts, which would breed holistic entertainment destinations for families and tourists, may include Six Flags theme parks, branded restaurants, hotels and retail outlets — for holistic entertainment destinations, said Tatweer in a statement.
"We are very excited about concept master-plan that will facilitate other works to commence," said Andrew Schleimer, executive vice-president of Strategic Development & In-Park Services for Six Flags.
The statement said that Tatweer would break ground next year for the Six Flags project in Dubai, the first property of the world's largest regional theme park company, Six Flags Inc, to be built outside North America.
"Our relentless efforts will continue to expedite the pace of the project even as other components of Dubailand are fast taking shape," said Mohammed Alhabbai, the chief executive officer of Dubailand.
The multibillion-dirham Six Flags project, spread over five million square feet, is a theme park within Dubailand, the world's largest tourism, leisure and entertainment destination being developed by Tatweer.
Dubai's Six Flags will have 30 family-oriented rides and has a design incorporating other leisure components, such as retail and food outlets. It will also boast renowned entertainment franchises like the children's musical group Wiggles and professional skateboarder Tony Hawk.
Dubailand is a three-billion-sq-ft development designed to feature unique theme parks, rides, cultural adventures and other forms of entertainment while the 47-year-old Six Flags Inc has 21 theme parks across the US, Mexico and Canada.
