Hairdresser found dead in Sharjah

By Afkar Abdullah (Our staff reporter) / 22 November 2007

SHARJAH — The body of a 41-year-old Filipino hairdresser was found in an inside lane in Al Yarmouk area behind Mega Mall Sharjah on Monday evening.

Salvador Kamatoy arrived in the country only 20 days ago to work as an hairdresser at a men’s salon in Al Yarmouk area.

A police source told Khaleej Times the Al Gharb police station received a call from an Egyptian national about the body lying in an inside lane. The police rushed to the site and removed the body to the forensic lab.

The police said the deceased had tattoos all over his body. There was no sign of any assault.

The police questioned his sponsor, colleagues at the salon and his roommate. They are waiting for the autopsy and forensic test results to ascertain the cause of his death.

Jose, a Filipino working in the same salon, said Salvador was new in the country but he was happy. He had told Jose a week back that he had heart problems and asthma.

“He had lunch with me and told me that he is going to an Internet cafe to send an e-mail to his family, but he didn’t return.”
