Over 450 students, teachers honoured

ABU DHABI — More than 450 students and administrators who took part in the recently-concluded environmental awareness programmes, were honoured at a special awards ceremony organised by the Environment Authority, Abu Dhabi (EAD) here yesterday.

Those honoured included 31 female teachers, 100 male teachers and 315 boy and girl students in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the western region.

According to Majid Al Mansouri, Secretary-General of the Authority, the environmental education programmes are aimed at reaching out to as many people as possible.

Al Afaaq (Horison) Model School was named the best environment-friendly school among the participating government schools.

Amal Bu Shlakh, in-charge of the school, said Al Affaq (Rural) project, the biggest of its kind in the country, is being carried out by the school.

Elaborating, she said each and every corner of the school will soon have a green-cover and a number of green houses will be set up.

Bait Al Maqdis International School won the top position in the private schools category, she added.
