Young bride ‘set on fire’

SIRSA — A newly married woman was allegedly set on fire by her husband and in-laws for bringing insufficient dowry, police said yesterday.

Jaswinder Kaur (21), wife of Gurulal, a resident of Jalalana village in this district was allegedly set on fire by her husband and in-laws on Sunday, police said, adding Kaur sustained 90 per cent burn injuries and was admitted to Civil Hospital by Odhan police station house officer Ranbir Singh. Kaur, in her declaration before the duty magistrate alleged that her husband, brother-in-law Jagga Singh and sister-in-law Virpal Kaur doused her body with kerosene and set on fire, police said.
