SCHOOL PUPILS, university students and young professionalsin the UAE will be given the opportunity to hear from a variety of seasonededucational experts at the first Youth Education Seminar (YES) event, whichwill be held at the Najah Education,

Training and Careers exhibition at the Abu Dhabi NationalExhibition Centre on November 4.

Hosted by IIR, these free seminars will provide theUAE’s next generation with a platform to exchange ideas and possiblesolutions to their education and career choices.

Professor Alan Patching will provide the first contribution,discussing the key components for achievement from goal setting and timemanagement to understanding how to establish what is really important in life.A 'jack of all trades', Alan has been an army officer, a jet pilot, a marathonkayaker, a triathlon runner, a professional speaker, a clinical hypnotherapistas well as being the man responsible for supervising the design andconstruction of the Sydney Olympic stadium.

He prides himself in knowing how to have a successful careerwhile having fun in the process. Mary Kobbe, an American from Southern Arkansaswho has been teaching for more than 15 years in the United States and the UAE,will discuss the 'Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens'. Currently theAccount manager of Education for FranklinCovey Middle East in Dubai, Mary willdiscuss the seven characteristics that happy and successful teens have incommon.

Dr Annette Ittig will address the audience, presenting YouthEconomic Empowerment Initiatives in Afghanistan. She is a specialist working inemergency response and international developments in the Middle East, CentralAsia and Africa and her examples will be very powerful to a youth audience.
