50% discount in traffic fines only till month end

Afkar Abdullah / 2 April 2012

The grace period for paying the traffic fines with 50 per cent discount in Sharjah will be over by the end of this month, a senior officer reminded motorists.

SHARJAH - The grace period for paying the traffic fines with 50 per cent discount in Sharjah will be over by the end of this month, a senior officer reminded motorists.

Colonel Abdullah Obaid Al Muhairi, Director of the Central Operations Department of the Sharjah Police, motorists can still avail the grace period to pay up the fines at the discounted rate.

“The grace period will not be extended and as soon as it is over, intensive inspections will be carried out on various roads to catch motorists who have committed various traffic law violations but have not paid up the fines. The decision to reduce the traffic fines by half was taken to close the files of those motorists who have accumulated fines. The reduction was made to encourage them to pay the fines while ensuring that they would not commit more traffic law violations,” he said.

Colonel Al Muhairi urged motorists to strictly abide by the traffic rules to avoid the fines, stop the practice of speeding and reckless driving to protect their lives as well as the lives of other road users.
