There might have been some incident that took place at home in the past regarding his studies and grades that made the boy so scared of returning home and facing his parents. I feel parents should not over burden their child of always scoring the highest grade in Class. Each student has their capabilities and limits. Parents should be more liberal with their child’s academic performance.- Mrs Siddik, Dubai

Most of the readers are blaming the education system, but sadly they are forgetting that vary same CBSE system has provided not only education to the world's biggest democracy but have provided solid base for talent to grow globally. The results are well seen globally. Let not the child feel that today's ease could help them live a relaxed life later. Our children have to dream big and live to realise them for their brighter future. However, all said it was a terrible incident for the family and we support them in our prayers. - Ravi, Dubai

This is the result of the pressure of studies that school going kids are going through.-Fatima, Dubai

Just wanna say it’s a miracle that the child is safe & sound. Am sure it’s the pressure from the parents side on the child’s progress which forced the child to take such a step. Well , it’s a lesson to all am sure. - Mitchele, Dubai

The Ministry of Education should conduct a survey among the parents to evaluate the kind of stress and agony the kids and parent are going through due to the Homework and the load the tiny tots are being put through. At times I used to wonder the ability of the Teaching Faculty at schools and their behaviour. YES it’s time for intervention and corrective actions. -Hanif Thayyil, Ajman

That is CBSE Studies… the kids have to mug and mug and learn everything themselves or go to tuitions or go for extra classes, they are slogging from morning to late night struggling to finish homework, to reach tuitions to complete school assignments, practical etc and the educationist the CBSE are busy making the syllabus more and more difficult and complicated. Well said Ahmed & Imrana. By large today’s parent want there child to be super hero and schools adds enough burdens on kids. The same parents comfortably forget their own childhood. Any how more and more importance is given for knowledge gaining and improving skills, on contrary importance for ethics, discipline etc. is declining or given less amount of time and resource. - Bilal, Abu Dhabi

I can very well relate to the parents’ agony of missing their child, especially when he/she has been presumed lost, as I had a terrific experience myself as a parent of a six year old, though God had disposed my pain much faster than Mr.Thomas Abraham. All I could say is after checking up on them for their shortcomings, also emphasis that how much you love them and always make an effort to bring back a smile on their face, as they are too tender to take everything in their stride.-Yousuf Sheriffy, Ras Al Khaimah

I think the teachers or the management are sort of taking revenge from parents and students for their past of nightmare experience in their school days. I suggest such people or management should be sent back to school again revise their childhood days. -Shezad, Dubai

No doubt, the children are overburdened with studies, home work and tuitions. Education has become so competitive and students find it hard to cope up with the rising standards. The little ones have a huge load of books to carry to and from school. When the coaching is not good enough children resort to tuitions and have no time for any recreation or extra curricular activities. Working parents are busy that they have no time to help the child in studies. But in the end it’s the child who is being pressurized from school as well as home. -Vidya Santhosh, Abu Dhabi

Almost all the schools in UAE are giving more home works to children. It should be avoided and teachers should give more attentions in schools, than giving more burdens to parents as well children. - Joy, Dubai

Yes, because in private schools they are taking more fees and not teaching properly and on another side they are giving more homework and putting all the burden on specially mothers which sometime she cannot help their children and finally they have to send them for tuitions which is also useless because the tutors only taking more money and not teaching properly. - Shereen, Sharjah

Children are indeed overburdened with homework. Sometimes their home work is more than their school work. Parents have to be after their children to get the work done. If both parents are working the case is worse, as they have to do all this during their weekly off days. Of course there are some schools, who are exception and give very less home work. Competition and comparison is leading parents to send their children to tuition classes to get good grades. One more point is that, all the schools must post their days homework and class work on the website, and without any financial burden on parents, which some schools are doing and managing. This will help a lot to the parents. - R Saldanha

Poor boy, and sad parents, after all they are tougher thanks to the good heart of the stranger. Child and Parent relation is so complex, there will be fight between them but both love each other more than anything, that remains end of the life. - Gopakumar, Sharjah

We are responsible as we want our children to be super human and bring distinctions in all the exams, Allah have not given same quality to every one some may be brilliant but not all, this will be the eye opener to all the parents who wants their nose up in the society, that their child is super hero in the class room. And my humble request to schools to normalise the burden from the student, to keep schools reputation high in the money market they are putting the burdens on child in terms of loaded bags on their little back in the age of playing games their are force to carry the expectations of their parents as well as the school. - Ahmed, Dubai

We are sending the children to school to learn from there. But normally most of the schools are giving much more home work beyond the children capacity. So, please let teachers give more attention to the children to avoid these kind of happens again. - Noushad, Dubai

Really children have too much workload now a days, as teachers want to finish their subject, not bothered whether children understood or not, even absent days lessons will be left unattended, though timings are much lesser comparing to India, here they don’t care about the active time of a child ! How much a child can study at home too? - Kanaka S Kumar

It’s not the children who are overloaded with burden of homework, but the parents who are burdened with project work given by some of the prestigious Indian school in Sharjah. It has become the project work for parents instead for the children for small grades. I have suggestions, why can’t the project be done in the school, why the materials are required from the home. The school should set up a week for projects and schools can make arrangement for the material needed for the projects. Parents could be asked for the money for the projects. It has become very difficult for the parents especially working one.- Indu Manoj

According to me, this could happen again to any Indian family. The children nowadays do not have the time to enjoy their childhood. There is not a single day that they do not have homework or project or a class test the next day. Hence they cannot relax even for a single day. Since the parents do not have the time to teach the children at home, they are sent for tuitions. We cannot blame the children or the parents - such is the system that everybody is flowing along with it. The system needs to be revamped immediately and it has to happen soon. - Bindu Saji, Dubai

Yes, especially the Indian students. They are overburdened with studies, homework, tests, learning, memorising and so on and so forth. Though teachers work very sincerely but Students are stressed by them to take more interest in their subjects irrespective of his or her interest. For any average student it is difficult to take equal interest and perform well in all the subjects. Parents and teachers should accept the IQ fact, nature has not made all human beings equally intelligent. The disappearance of this little boy should be an eye opener for all parents and teachers involved in the academic race. Surely it must have been the worst nightmare for the parents of this poor child. In order to decrease the stress on the whole Indian community the system needs a total overhauling. The very extensive, old and outdated facts plus the new and the innovative ideas overburden the kids beyond all leaps and bounds. The students’ life is so monotonous, they get bored and depressed. Neither parents nor the kids have any time to involve in any recreation. The whole family gets stressed and lead tensed lives blaming each other for it. - Imrana, Sharjah
