JERUSALEM - Palestinian militants in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip on Wednesday fired a rocket against southern Israel that caused no casualties or damage, the army said.

The rocket landed outside the town of Sderot, which has been hard hit by thousands of rockets from Gaza in recent years, a spokeswoman said.

According to an Israeli army count, some 270 rockets and mortar shells have been fired at Israel since the end of the Jewish state’s offensive against the Gaza Strip’s Hamas rulers at the turn of the year.
