After the prayers, the leaders exchanged greetings with well-wishers, including shaikhs, senior officials, statesmen, UAE nationals and some members of the Arab and Muslim communities.
President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan led the congregation of worshippers at the Shaikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi.
Shaikh Khalifa was joined by a number of shaikhs, including Shaikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE President’s Representative, General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Shaikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor and Lt-General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister.
The prayer was led by the renowned Muslim cleric and Advisor at the Presidential Affairs Ministry, Ali Al Hashimi, who, in his sermon, underscored the significance of exchanging visits with relatives during Eid.
He also stressed on the need to share mutual respect and love among people. He called for moderation in Islam and the need for Muslims to uphold truth, justice and equality.
He also urged Muslims to be the messengers of peace wherever they are.
He prayed for the soul of the late UAE founder and leader, Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and cited his good works for his people, the Muslim world and humanity, in general.
After offering the prayer, Shaikh Khalifa, accompanied by Shaikh Sultan, General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed, their siblings, other shaikhs, and ministers visited the tomb of Shaikh Zayed.
His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, offered prayers at the Grand Eid Musallah.
Shaikh Mohammed was joined by the Dubai Crown Prince, Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Deputy Ruler and UAE Finance Minister, Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum and his sons, Dubai Deputy Ruler Shaikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The prayer was led by Omar Al Khateeb, who, in his sermon described the day as “the day of happiness and joy”, a day of “thanksgiving” and a day of “positive communication with family members, relatives and friends”.
He underscored the significance of offering “Zakat ul Fitr”, which he said is compulsory for every Muslim.
He prayed for Allah’s protection for President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
He also prayed for the souls of the late UAE founder and leader, Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Shaikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, offered the prayer at the Al Badea Eid Musallah along with the Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi and senior dignitaries.
The prayer was led by a cleric from the Sharjah Department of Islamic Affairs and Awqaf, Ahmed Abdullah Mohammed Al Ali, who, in his sermon, urged Muslims to do good work on this day of Eid Al Fitr like mediating between two feuding persons or sides for rapprochement, love for one’s nation and playing the necessary roles to ensure its development, progress, security and stability, working to help consolidate justice, peace and the need for Muslims to uphold moderation, tolerance and cooperation.
He prayed for the souls of the late UAE founder and leader, Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Shaikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Other Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, their crown princes and deputy rulers offered prayers, marking the successful end of fasting throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
In Fujairah, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, His Highness Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, offered the prayer at the Grand Eid Musallah.
Shaikh Hamad was joined by the Fujairah Crown Prince, Shaikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi.
The prayer was led by a cleric from the Fujairah Department of Islamic Affairs and Awqaf, Abdullah Mohammed Al Sa’adi, who, in his sermon, congratulated Muslims on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr and urged them to do good work. He also urged them to uphold moderation, tolerance and cooperation.
In Umm Al Quwain, Supreme Council member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, His Highness Shaikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, offered the prayer at the Shaikh Zayed Mosque.
Joining Shaikh Saud were the Umm Al Quwain Crown Prince, Shaikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, and Umm Al Quwain Deputy Ruler Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Mualla amongst others.
Cleric Jasim Al Mansouri in his sermon underscored the significance of “Zakat ul Fitr”.
In Ajman, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, His Highness Shaikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, offered prayers at the Shaikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi Mosque.
Shaikh Humaid was joined in offering the prayers by Ajman Crown Prince, Shaikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi.
The prayer was led by Hussein Mu’en Al Hossani, who is also the director of the Islamic Scientific Institute in Ajman.
In his sermon, Al Hossani congratulated Muslims on the occasion and urged them to do good work, citing the good works of Islam.
In Ras Al Khaimah, the Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, Shaikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, joined the worshipers at the Grand Eid Musallah.
The prayer was led by Ahmed Mohammed Al Shehi, who, in his sermon, highlighted the significance of the holy month of Ramadan and enumerated some of its special rewards.—
