Mohammed okays creation of federal demographic body
(WAM)

Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has approved a resolution for establishing..

the Federal Demographic Council under the chairmanship of HH Lt.General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

The Emiratisation Council will be annexed to the Federal Demographic Council as both bodies are complementing each other in serving national development, building capacities of UAE nationals and tapping their energies to the service of the country. Earlier, Sheikh Mohammed received at the Presidential Palace Sheikh Saif and H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, to discuss national demographic initiatives and mandate and mission of the new council.

The council will work to strike a balance in the demographic structure in the country, and deepen the spirit of loyalty of UAE citizens to their leadership and homeland.

Towards this end, the body will review demographic policies in order to develop national demographic strategies and initiatives through coordination with other stakeholders. It will also gather information, conduct demographic studies and researches and establish an integrated data base as a key source for drawing related policies.  The council will also coordinate with competent department in other emirates in order to have a common national policy for reaching solutions to demographic issues for maintaining harmony between the sustainable development and demographic policies.
