UN praises UAE efforts on labour conditions
(WAM)

5 November 2009,
The United Nations has applauded the efforts made by UAE to enhance labour conditions, hoping that countries in the region will follow suit UAE in this area.

This came in a letter that was received by UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, from Peter Sutherland, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on International Migration and Development.

Sutherland said in his letter: “I would like to express my deep appreciation for the role UAE delegation played in Global Forum on Migration and Development”

“It is very important for the UAE to have such a successful and active participation during this special stage, when governments are uniting their efforts to raise the level of dialogue on migration issues and their impact on development,” he added.

He assured that the UAE’s participation in the Global Forum on Migration and Development that begun its work in Athens yesterday will be beneficial to both exporting and importing countries for employment as well as migrants themselves.
