Bahraini Women’s Day Today
(Our Correspondent)

1 December 2009,
MANAMA — The second Bahraini Women’s Day will be celebrated today (Tuesday) by highlighting women’s achievements in the health sector.

The one-month-long celebrations will be held under the theme, Woman and Health Security — Midwife, Nurse, Technician, Doctor, Minister, a continuous march, to underline women’s success mainly in this vital field.

The idea of allocating a day to acknowledge Bahraini women’s progress in various fields  was proposed by the state-run Supreme Council for Women (SCW). The empowerment of women is neither a luxury nor an option but an urgent necessity, according to the SCW.  Female achievers in the health sector will be honoured by First Lady and Chairman of the SCW, Shaikha Sabika bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa.

The celebrations aim to highlight remarkable contributions made by Bahraini women in various fields.shamada@khaleejtimes.ae
