“We are starting with the opening of Ramee Deli on the first underground level at the Khalid Bin Waleed station near BurJuman,” said Raj Shetty, the group’s Chairman and Managing Worker. “It is part of our ambitious and fast-growing retail, food and beverage development programme.” Shetty added that the “integration of three quick service models would make the outlet unique”. The design will offer a combination of grab and go, service across the counter and dining at site. The area of the outlet is over 1,000 sq. feet, and it will serve tea, coffee, sandwiches, and pastries to commuters desiring a food or coffee break.
Pointing out the significance of the outlet location, Renjith Nair, a spokesman of the Ramee group, said: “This station will be an inter-change for Red and Green Line, which means more footfalls. This station will not only attract a lot of people working in Bur Dubai but also tourists/leisure shoppers who frequent the BurJuman Mall.” Talking about the growth plan, Nair stated, “First we will see the response of the first outlet then will decide about more stores.”
The Dubai Metro Red line and the Green line will have more than 200 shops, with each metro station having a minimum of two and as many as 12 stores each. According to the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai Metro should generate revenues in excess of Dh17 billion over the next 10 years; sources of income will include fares, advertising, stores and station naming rights.
