15 October 2009
ABU DHABI — His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, will open the Federal National Council (FNC) session on Wednesday (October 21).

Crown Princes and Deputy Rulers, Ministers, members of diplomatic corps and high ranking civil and military officials will attend the session.

The President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has issued the federal decree number 76 of 2009, ordering for the convening of the FNC on the same morning.

The session will be held in line with the constitution amendment number 1 of 2009, which states that the FNC will hold annual ordinary session within a period of seven months to start from the third week of October every year instead of November.

Shaikh Mohammed will be accorded an official reception before he opens the session.

The FNC will then commence procedural session in which the controllers, the executive committee of the parliamentary bureau, the undersecretary, secretary general and four members will be elected.

It will also elect its eight permanent committees.
