DUBAI — The 10th International Advertising Association World Education Conference, a forum for educators involved in advertising and communications around the world, ended on Monday at the American University of Dubai (AUD) with calls for enhanced cooperation and collaboration among industry practitioners and between industry and academia.The 'Advancing Marketing Communications Education Worldwide' conference, running in conjunction with the 40th IAA World Congress and Exhibition in Dubai, was attended by more than 40 educators from around the world, with delegations from Asia, Europe, the US and the Middle East.
Pakistan Day celebration
DUBAI — The Ladies Wing of Pakistan Association Dubai, in collaboration with State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan (SLIC), will be celebrating ‘Pakistan Day’ with its members and guests at Crowne Plaza Hotel on March 25. There will be a variety of activities to mark the day including a cultural show by the students of Shaikh Rashid School and a presentation ny SLIC, quiz as well as raffle draws followed by high tea.
Winning proposal
DUBAI — A students team from Georgia Tech University of the US put forward a winning proposal for rehabilitating Dubai's Central Business District (CBD) which won them first prize in a contest organised as part of the Dubai Forum on Sustainable Urban Development, which concluded at Grand Hyatt. The proposal, drafted after drawing comparisons for the city's CBD development with three US cities — Chicago, Savannah, and Georgia — presented comprehensive solutions to the challenges facing CBDs. The second place was won by a proposal presented by the students' team of Pavia University, Italy.
Medical seminar
DUBAI — The Paediatric Department at Al Wasl Hospital will organise a medical seminar to review the expertise of the hospital in the field of paediatrics and gynaecology during the past five years. Dr Shahraban Abdullah, Head of Paediatrics Department, stressed on the importance of this seminar which will be attended by Dr Jakolin Evan, paediatrician in Philadelphia Hospital, USA, in addition to doctors and hospital staff.
Strategic partnership
DUBAI — Empost, the national courier company, has entered into a strategic partnership with National Bonds Corporation (NBC), the national saving scheme for the UAE. Empost will be the official courier service provider for NBC. It will be responsible for the collection of bond certificates from over 100 outlets across the UAE and delivery of the same to NBC. Empost will also deliver bond certificates directly to the corporation's clients. The delivery of all certificates will be made through Empost's 'Tawseel' service.
