ABU DHABI — A new electronic recruitment system is to be launched soon by Abu Dhabi Police, in a major step forward that will allow applicants to submit their documents by emailing them from any location, a top official said yesterday.

"The new e-recruitment system will be based on four phases: announcement about vacancies on the police web site, receiving applications, evaluation of applications and e-appointment", said Colonel Mohammed Al Awadi Al Menhali, Director, Human Resources at Abu Dhabi Police.

He said Interior Minister Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, had ordered the formation of a work team to improve the functioning of the Human Resources General Directorate and affiliated sections.

The directorate has under its jurisdiction seven sections including Selection and Appointment, Training, Personnel, Planning, Evaluation and Performance, Institutes and Police Schools.

In another development, Abu Dhabi Police are training their investigators to anticipate crime trends and security threats. Captain Rasas Salem Al Ameri, Head of the Security Institute Section at the Department of Police Institutes and Schools, said a training course had been organised on the use of statistics in anticipating security threats. Held from September 17 to 21, a total of 15 police personnel took part in the course.
