Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, stated this. "Our experience in using modern technologies will be evaluated fully to see how these technological advancements have benefited police operations and in what respects," said the police chief.

He was commenting on the modern products exhibited at Intersec 2004, the 6th International Trade fair for Commercial Security, Police, Firefighting, Public Safety and Rescue, which he had inaugurated on Sunday. The exhibition, being held at the Dubai International Convention Centre, concludes today.

The police chief said the use of technology sometimes adds to the burden, and subsequently requires the employment of more people of special performance and skills. But he stressed it was fundamental to use advanced technologies in police work to catch up with global advancements in fighting crime and enhancing security.

The show has seen progress and growth compared to last year's event. There are 10 national pavilions representing Germany, UK, South Korea, Italy, France, South Africa, China, Taiwan and Turkey. There are also companies from Austria, Spain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Greece, Hong Kong, Belgium, Russia, Canada, Singapore, Sweden, Bahrain, Lebanon, Australia, India and the UAE. A total of 300 companies from 27 countries are taking part.
