ABU DHABI - The UAE and Azerbaijan on Monday signed an agreement to promote cultural cooperation.

Information and Culture Under-Secretary Saqr Ghubash and Azeri Deputy Minister of Culture Adalet Maqsad Walyeev signed the agreement in the presence of Azerbaijan's Ambassador to the UAE, Eldar Salimov.

Mr Ghubash said the agreement would be signed in April by Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Information and Culture, and Azeri Culture Minister Polad Bulbuloghlu.

An Azeri cultural week will be held here in April, which Mr Ghubash said was a welcome event. Mr Walyeev thanked Shaikh Abdullah for the special attention paid to promote culture and information relations between the two countries and expressed admiration of the natural habitat of the UAE.
