The actor, 63, was admitted to a Mumbai hospital Monday night for a scan but was not having further treatment, staff said, amid concerns he was recovering more slowly than expected from an intestinal operation.
“There is nothing to worry about. He had come here for a routine check-up and at this moment he is not having any treatment from Nanavati Hospital,” Dr Ashok Hatolkar said.
Hundreds of fans gathered outside the hospital in November to pray for the recovery of movie-mad India’s most popular star, who is known as “The Big B” and has made more than 100 films.
The actor also hosted India’s version of the television show ”Who Wants to be a Millionaire” but the latest series was shortened after he cut back on his commitments.
