DUBAI — Acer Computers (ME) Ltd is planning to open an office in Saudi Arabia as it is the largest market for the company.
Acer consolidated its hold on the number one spot for notebooks in Saudi Arabia with a huge 30 per cent market share. Notebook sales growth was at 132.5 per cent by the end of Q4 2005, said one top official of the company.
“Acer's revenue in 2005 reached $8.3 billion globally and the company is targeting a revenue of $11 billion in 2006 through innovative, technologically advanced products, indirect channel and services," said Emanuele Accolla, Acer Vice-President for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
He was speaking at a Press conference announcing the sales and financial data for 2005, revealing an overall 54 per cent growth which the biggest gain of the top three vendors in the MEA region. In the UAE, where Acer Middle East's head office is based, the company consolidated their hold on the number two spot by posting the largest growth in sales between Q4 2004 and Q4 2005 at 64 per cent again, the largest growth rate of the top three vendors. Acer also maintained its number two position on notebooks with a 90.4 per cent increase in sales over the same period last year.
