Nomads in line for place on the podium in team play

DUBAI - Nomads were in a cracking form in the postponed game against Marco Trend and outplayed the all national darts team 7-3.

This win followed their emphatic 9-1 win over the Design Club Ladies to dislodge the Harrys' Place Archers from their cosy third position by a leg advantage on the league tables.

Sidney Martis, the former star of the Nomads team, suddenly  rose to the occasion to easily beat the defending champion Ibrahim Abdul Karim in straight sets for the much needed two points.

The victory boosted the teams' morale to lead in the singles 4-2.

Marco Trend, surprised by the  state of affairs on the score board, returned strongly in the doubles to thrash Satish/Sidney but then fell short at the check out to lose the remaining games.

The win elevated the Nomads to the third position on the league table.

C..O.E. Kilabots thrashed Millenium Insurance  team to secure their second position in the league while Harrys' Place Archers, who earlier beat the Marco Trend lads 6-4, will have to  pray for a miracle podium finish.

Top Flights and Gem Electro Mechanical  both collected 10 points each as their opponents Dubal and El Rancho Bulls Eye respectively failed to turn up for their game.

Avari Knights had a bye .

The  winter league, according to the managing committee, will start in the second week of February at a central venue and the presentation /dinner -dance for the 2003 season  will be held  at the Le Meridien Hotel in Dubai on 11 March 1.

New teams wishing to join the league are requested to contact the league secretary Satish Pillai on tel. 050/7799723. before 30th January for registration.
