Saken eyes honours

ABU DHABI - Saken rediscovered his form on time to have another crack at the Shaikh Falah bin Zayed Al Nahyan Breeder's Cup in tonight's Al Reef sponsored meeting here at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club.

The five-year-old by Bibi De Carrere carried top weight to win his last start after a couple of disappointing outings on reappearance for a horse that won four of his five starts last season.

Saken meets a familiar field and re-opposes Al Nab'A on a 2kgs better term after the latter had finished ahead of the grey over tonight's course and distance when two came out for the first time this season.

The Julio Peromingo trained son of Chaikh Man was beaten in a photo by Tawoos that day and won his next two starts over shorter trips. Qatari based French jockey David Bouland is booked to ride Al Nab'A to make a stronger claim in the Prestige race over a mile.

Ali Rashid Al Raihe's progressive Ahmadani Musafer can make it three-horse race to the finish line. The Bibi De Carrere colt has won twice over the distance in Abu Dhabi and was beaten in a photo by AF Athhalatni over a shorter distance in the last start.

Al Reef trainer Jaber Bittar could kick start his stables' sponsored seven-race card meeting by claiming the third race with Muaned and complete a possible treble by saddling Calin De Mirande to the winner's enclosure in the sixth race.

Muaned competes in his own class after a few outings against open company. His stable companion Saket and James Frazier's Taloomany should pose the main challenge.

Satish Seemar has a strong hand in the opener, the solitary race for thoroughbreds run over 2,400 metres. The Zabeel trainer has four entries in the handicap rated 0-75 with the Ryan Moore ridden Desert Sands holding the best chance from Quite Lovely and Lancewood.

Seemar also has a couple of Purebred Arabian newcomers to round off the evening with a possible double. Hiderne De Faust seems the better of the two with Abkhazia and Erwan Charpy's Viva in the shake up.

Richard Hills can claim the next on Gillian Duffield's Beguin De Piboul. The five-year-old by Dormane made a pleasing debut when finishing second to Kal Barq last week, and could have benefited from that run to break his maiden tag.

An interesting entry in the race is Mijadadd, one of the first crops from champion mare Alanudd (Unchained Melody). This well-bred colt by Dormane should attract a lot of attention.
