DSS 19th edition kicks off today in Dubai

The 19th edition of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) - themed 'Own The Summer' - kicks off today with a host of great events, family fun and exciting deals across the city.
"With the start of Dubai's annual summer extravaganza, residents and visitors get the chance to enjoy rewarding experiences that are unique and unmatched," said Laila Mohammed Suhail, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE).
"For the next 43 days, residents and visitors in Dubai can 'Own the Summer' and enjoy one of the best shopping seasons in the region, with amazing deals and promotions that will create many memorable moments during their summer stays,' she added.
Organised by DFRE, an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, DSS 2016 is set to transform the city into a cool and fun summer oasis, with an exciting calendar featuring highlights like regional superstar Rashed Al Majed's concert.
Other activities include cartoon character shows, and dining/shopping promotions - one by DFRE and the Dubai Shopping Malls Group (DSMG) offers shoppers the opportunity to win 12 Infiniti cars, in addition to big surprises offered by participating malls.
"DSS 2016 reflects our understanding of the diverse tastes and interests of the millions of visitors who have made the festival the most successful of its kind for almost two decades," said Suhail, on the region's longest running summer extravaganza.
