As healthy staff means happy staff, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry organised its monthly staff gathering with the health and happiness theme at the Chamber head office recently. 
In his welcome address, Hamad Buamim, president and CEO, Dubai Chamber, quoted His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai who has said, "Set personal goals so that you may develop yourself for your life so that you improve it".
Buamim added: "We firmly support our staff in setting positive goals for their lives, as we know that healthy, happy staff are crucial to the success of the Chamber and the happiness of our customers."
He lauded the efforts and dedication of the staff to their work and urged them to adopt a positive lifestyle in their pursuit of wellbeing and happiness which he said is important for an individual's personal development as well as the organisation which he serves, adding that this approach is in line with the government's directive to serve the people and make them happy.
The President and CEO of Dubai Chamber informed that it is all for the staff wellbeing that the organisation runs wellness programmes like Sehhati which emphasises on active lifestyle and healthy living, offer health club membership and arrange activities for staff like climbing Emirates Towers during the SkyRun vertical marathon as he also encouraged his staff to make the most of these excellent opportunities.
Dr Mansoor Anwar, senior director, Employee Wellness & Happiness, Human Capital & Administration, Du Telecom, who was the guest speaker at the gathering spoke about happiness and wellness while providing tips to stay healthy and happy during Ramadan. 
As part of the Chamber's Sehhati wellness programme, 48.8 per cent of the participating staff maintained an active lifestyle by walking approximately 10,000 steps/day while taking over 22.9 million steps which is roughly the equivalent of walking to the North Pole and back. Majority of them also attended stair climbing exercises and health and fitness workshops and lectures while losing a total of 69 kg of pure fat agreed that the programme helped them exercise more, eat more healthily and be more aware about wellness. - business@khaleejtimes.com
